Paul Spurgeon, one of the UK jewellery industry’s leading designers has brought back Cornerstone Creations, the company that has fair trade at its roots and already has much support from within the trade before the relaunch.

The business took a step back last year and has taken time to review its market and consider how to encourage the industry to seek opportunities which will bring about change to those who provide a resource or service, for a more responsible supply chain. “Cornerstone was always meant to be my legacy,” says Paul, “I’ve been lucky to work at the level I have and want to put those experiences to a more considered use.”
Cornerstone’s history is quite remarkable and spans some 10 years. It is more than a collection of beautiful and original jewellery designs… it has a conscience. Born in Soweto, S.A. where a social enterprise called Cornerstone Manufacturers employs staff adhering to Cornerstone’s ethos, it extends to the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham, where Paul trains and employs young people with learning disabilities, in association with Argent College.
Consumer awareness of responsibly sourced jewellery is growing all the time with Fairtrade, Fairmined and Fashion Revolution organisations constantly reinforcing the message that there is a choice for those looking for jewellery, or a retail jeweller, fitting this criteria. To help retailers meet these consumer choices Cornerstone is offering an exclusive account per town and will support its accounts with PR and marketing material.
The company has a new vision and strategy for a more global reach and consumer awareness to meet the trend for responsibly sourced jewellery. It has sought the support of Daren and Michelle Daniels, founders of The Jewellery App, who are helping in a technical management role to launch on multiple ecommerce platforms for business-to-business and business-to-consumer, including The Jewellery App (B2B & B2C) and the new Just Fair Jewellery. Daniels adds: “Its such a privilege to be helping Paul in this next chapter of Cornerstone; his designs are only part of what he’s about and we’re looking forward to getting his story out there, as it’s equally as inspiring as the products.”
Paul continues: “As well as Cornerstone we are truly excited to be the first brand to partner with Just Fair Jewellery, a unique ethical online marketplace that will be selling items of jewellery that conform to its constitution of justice and sustainability. In short our environment is precious to us at Cornerstone Creations, as I’m sure it is to all our customers.”
If you’re looking for a new brand that not only meets the needs of conscientious consumers but also stunning designs and incredible quality and finish look no further than Cornerstone Creations.
